I have recieved some new information on the Robert Stevens & Elizabeth Barnett.
Robert Stevens is a native of Belmont Co. OH his birth having occured in Barnsville 17 Jul 1827? (I have 1828) His father was William Stevens who was born in Baltimore Maryland, and served in the war of 1812. Roberts grandfather was Aaron Stevens who came to the United States from England and served his country in the Revolutionary war. Aaron died in Maryland. Roberts father William married Elizabeth Camp (a native of Maryland) daughter of Robert Camp who was reared near Philadelphia PA and is of German lineage, he also served his country in the war of 1812. William & Elizabeth removed from Belmont county to Guernsey county and later onto Vinton county, he was a farmer by occupation, In politics he was first a Whig and was a supporter of Abraham Lincoln. His death occured when he was about 90 years of age and his wife passed away when she had completed the Psalmist's span of three-score years and ten.
Robert Stevens married at the age of 25 to Miss Elizabeth Barnett who was born in Pennsylvania, and remained ther until 10, then her family moved to Muskingum co, OH. her parents were George & Mary BOYER Barnett, both of whom were natives of the Keystone state. The latter was of German lineage. They spent their last days in Vinton County OH.
(the book says Vinton Co Iowa)
