Dear Jane,
I think I can help you, although I know this man as Lacy Stevens, son of Francis Stevens and Hannah Pearson. I have a marriage record for Lacy Stevens and Martha Piper 9 Mar 1814. He was residing in Piermont and she in Rumney. I think I may have found a birth record for her, but can't confirm that yet.
He is mentioned on several deeds involving the estate of his father--the estate was given away before either Francis or Hannah had passed away. The deedlinks Lacy and all of his living siblings: Sally Chandler, Ruth Chandler, Polly Cross, Broadstreet Stevens, Pearson Stevens, Clarissa Stevens, Thomas Stevens.
All of them lived in Piermont. Thomas moved to Orford (a few miles away), Broadstreet left for Oberlin, Ohio via New York State about 1829, Lacy disappears from local record here in New Hampshire after about 1817. His baptismal record is recorded in 1792 in Piermont. I estimate his birth at about 1788, but it may be a year or two later.
I would be happy to send copies of some of the documents in exchange for info on what happened to him, where he and the family moved to, etc.
I should also note that a few years ago I established Francis Stevens as a Revolutionary War veteran with the DAR (it is my wife's family).
Francis Stevens's sister Molly Stevens married William Lacy. Haven't found a marriage record, but have good evidence that they were married. They moved to Enosburg, Franklin Co., Vt. about 1809 and William Lacy died about 1810 or 1811. Since the family tended to name their kids using surnames of family members and sometimes friends, I see why I have not been able to locate him. He seems to have been named William Lacy Stevens.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerly yours,
Rob Welsch
