Dear Despina,
I too am searching for my Stevens/Stephens Family. I noticed a step-son named Carl Melton-the family name of Melton is the maiden name of my Great-Great-grandmother who married a Sanders. Child from marriage was Mary Emily Sanders who married Alonzo S. Stevens. Another strange fact: W.C. is the name of my young nephew!(William Carroll)My daddy loved calling him, WC, he said it was
family name. Maybe there is a connection, I don't know, but you know how it is when you stumble onto a clue, you just have to check them all out. My Stevens/Stephens family were from S.C. and moved to north Miss.(Dave Webb's line is mine too.) I have been trying to find out what the S. stood for in Alonzo's name-but on documents that I have found, just the initial is placed. I tried sending for his death certificate, but he must have died before 1912 and Miss. doesn't have earlier ones. Well, I wish you luck and really hope we have a connection.
