Hi, Linda,
There is information on this family in the Macon County, N.C. Heritage book. It says that Elizabeth (Betsy) Wilde, born 1800, married Henry Deweese. They had a daughter, Elizabeth Caroline Deweese who married Edward Wilson. My husband and children descend from them. The Macon Co. book also has James Wilde, born 1790, as the first child of Hans and Christina Wilde. If you look at the Weaver Family on this site you will see that Christina's last name was also known as Weaver. Also, there is quite a bit of information on Posey Caler and Elizabeth Franks Wilde and family in the Macon County Heritage book. We are still wondering why John was called "Blackdutch." Quite often it meant that a person was Native American, Spanish or Melungeon. There is a picture of Posey Wilde in the Macon County book, and he looks as if he could have one of the above nationalities in him.
