There is a good genealogy by A.M. Sterling(1909) that starts with Wm. This source says parents unknown. Lots on his son Daniel and other lines. (Mine: Wm1, Daniel2, Joseph3, Wm4, etc)
F.A. Sterling suggests a William as his father.
The grave is in a small hillside graveyard, completely surrounded by a fairly modern low stone wall (no gate!) to keep the cows out. His sandstone marker has a homemade wooden and glass 'slip cover' to protect it, which can be lifted off.
Let me know if I can help.Pete
