I have an interest in this family. My Moody's were in Lauderdale from 1830 till 1840.The husband's name was Harrison Moody. His wife is unknown.Their first born was a male born in 1837 named Sterling.I have for years tried to find who Sterling Moody's mother was.A few weeks ago I began a new effort with my thinking being that prehaps his name Sterling could be his mother's maiden name.
I found a Lydia Sterling in 1840 living in Lawrence Co., MS which is the county just to the north of Lauderdale Co where the Moody's were found.
Additional resurch found that Allen Sterling died in 1832, just before the marriage date I have for the Moody couple of 1835 and Sterling's birth of 1837.
Many times during those days, when a parent of the wife's had died, the next born child carried his name.
That fact, plus the three sons born to Allen and Lydia Sterling were born so close to one another and then no other children are listed, makes me wonder if there may have been other children born to those two and were never recorded.
I wonder if Allen and Lydia had a daughter that could have been the wife of Harrison Moody?
