Hi. Sorry, have never heard of the Sterlings that you mentioned, nor the Wallaces. "Our Sterlings" resided in Dover Township, Kent County, Ontario, Canada. We had ancestors named William Sterling or Guillaume Sterling as well, but our first known William Sterling married Elizabeth Peck, their son, Alexandre William Sterling married Catherine Seguin dit Laderoute and their son, William Sterling married Rosalie Dubois .... and their son, William Sterling married Julienne Charron .... all resided in Dover Township. Our first William was said to be Scottish, but we have no confirmation of this, as we haven't traced any documentation of his exact origins. He may even have been born Scotland or even in Detroit then crossed over to Ontario and then settled around Thames River at Chatham area. We do have proof that his son Alexandre Guillaume Sterling married at St. Peter's Church on the Thames River in Tilbury East, on 20 February 1830. Before 1830, we only have family legend (heresay) to go by in that our Sterlings were Scottish and married French Women.
