This may be a little late, but I do have information for you.I've been trying to find a link between my Sterlings and some other Sterlings I found in the same area. And, in the meantime, I've gotten quite familiar with the line you are trying to find.Fortunately, I just came across this info last night through a almost direct source. They started in TN, then moved to KY, then finally to IL.The IL locality was mostly Bureau County. Here is what I know as of now (summarized):

Sally Sterling (1838-)
Sarah Anderson (1838-)
Henry Sterling (1823 TN-1886) married Sarah Caroline McCall (1824 TN-??)
Children are:

Samuel Alexander Sterling
James Seaborn Sterling
John Houston Sterling
John B Sterling (1844-1931) married Bethenia "Fanny" Morris (1860-1906)
Children are:
Benjamin Francis Ludwig Sterling (1879-1923)
Others???
Benjamin Francis Ludwig Sterling (1879-1923) married Mary Elizabeth Burrell (1891-1908)
Children are:
Beulah Sterling
Francis Benjamin Sterling ** (your relation)
Lawrence Robert Sterling
Virginia Sterling
That is all that I know at the moment, although I know there is more to it (I just started). Also, some of the dates may be messed up, so watch out for that.I know it's late, but I hope that helps.
My great grandfather Charles Ganie Sterling was related to this line, but I'm still trying to figure out how.Good luck!
