When did Mary sign for Critterodn(?) to marry? What date? That will give us a clue to the husband. William is a younger one (b. 1818, m. 1839), but William's father died before William, so his wife can't be the widow who married Peter. Dates are a big help in trying to decide who married who. The marriage record of Peter Stepro and Mary Overton could possibly have their ages. (1843 - Harrison Co., IN records) Mahalia and Walker Overton are on the 1860 census. I don't have Peter on the 1850 census. He's elusive. Maybe he was living with one of his children by 1850. I found Jefferson tho and no Peter with him. I have Walker Overton as the son of Beverly Overton, so that accounts for Beverly giving consent for Walker. I don't have the name of Beverly's wife, but Beverly died before 1840, and Peter and Mary married in 1843. If Beverly's wife was a Mary, that could be the widow who married Peter. I have Susan Overton (Jefferson's wife) as the daughter of Garland Overton and Mary (would've been Overton after their marriage), so she could've been the one giving consent, and the one who was a widow and married Peter. It's likely. Susan was Jefferson's second wife, married 1837. Peter and Mary were married in 1843. I have no definite information, but you may be able to find something by looking at the wives of Beverly and Walker. Good luck in your search. Charlene
