Seeking Col Hugh Stephenson Information

I have an ancestor, William Pile, who served as Ensign in Hugh Stephenson's (at that time Capt) Virginia rifle company out of Shepherdstown. According to the Bedinger journal, Wm Pile joined up with the company late and in company with Capt Stephenson. Wm Pile is not listed among the original [elected] officers or NCOs. Further, his home was [prob at time] in Prince Georges Co, MD. I suspect that he was visiting uncle Richard Pile in summer of 1775... I'm trying to sort out where Richard had land in Berkeley Co... however, would also like to know specifically where Stephensons held land as well. I suspect social contact here. Any Hugh Stephenson historians/biographers out there???
