Hello Marilou
Thank you for your message in response to my query.
As you will realise, my posting was made a considerable time ago and, in the intervening period, I have discovered more about the family whose whereabouts I was seeking.
Some of the family emigrated to Guernsey in the mid-1890s, others moved elsewhere within England and the remainder stayed in Cornwall. None ventured across the Atlantic to North America.
It was a mere co-incidence that the Stephens Family lived in Bodmin, the very town where the Probate office was, and still is, located.
Although quite incidental to this posting, it is interesting to relate that a certain John Tippett, who at one time was the owner of our cottage here in Cornwall, emigrated to Nevada during the last decade of the 19th century. I do believe that 'Tippett's Ranch' can still be found in that part of the United States. Tippett died intestate on 31 December 1906 and the ownership of 'our' property was conveyed to his sister Alice Alma Sellas (nee Tippett).
Thank you again for your interest.
With kind regards
Colin
