Seeking parents/family for David Stephens born ca 1803 VA and his wife Elizabeth Sharp born ca 1807 NC. David was in Campbell Co., TN by his Oct 1828 land entry for land adjacent to that of Solomon Stephens. David and Elizabeth married, probably in Campbell Co., TN, by the October1831 birth of their first child. No record of their marriage was found in the Tennessee Marriage Book. Children, all born in Campbell Co., TN: Daniel, Sarah, Morgan, Isham, Solomon, Rachel, David, Elizabeth and Nancy. The Campbell Countian Vol. 14, No. 3, pg. 56 notes Rev. David Stephens as one founder of the Buffalo Baptist Church, founded in 1836. Family stories and David’s Kansas obituary mention him traveling to preach in Kentucky. That obituary also mentions his birth in Grayson Co., VA and migration to Jacksboro, Campbell Co., TN ca 1817 with his unnamed parents. David and Elizabeth lived on Buffalo Creek, becoming part of Scott Co., TN at its formation in 1850. Other Stephens resident at Buffalo Creek were: Solomon by 1828; John & Allen by 1835; Widow Stephens and Hiram by 1843. Were they related? If so, how? Sharp families on Buffalo Creek were: Isham, Jr. by 1836; Joseph before 1836; and, Isham, Sr. Just after the 1850 census David, Elizabeth and all their children relocated to Indiana.
