Seeking follow up on William Kline. He was living in Alexandria in 1860, with wife Mary Elizabeth McCullough and son Maccullough and dauhter. He is listed as a mechanic. Did he help build the Bayou le Boef sugar mill with parts from Mansfield, Ohio and the first railroad west of the Mississippi connecting Bayou le boef and Alexandria. He lived on Front Street and the railroad line and was burned out in the great fire of 13 May 1864 during Federal retreat from battles further up the Red River. His shop was ransacked for material to build the coffer dam to allow down river progress of Yankee gun boats trapped by the lowered river at the rapids. Thanx in advance Walton Stevens = Charlton
