Thomas Stephens married Margaret Scott in Cavan County in c 1803. They had 4 children all born in Cavan: Richard b 1808; Elizabeth (Betsey); John & Thomas born 1813 in Parish of Kildrumferton. I have no knowledge whatsoever of Richard, Betsey, John or the father Thomas. The father may have been a convict and was sent to NSW, Australia aboard the "Pilot" in 1816 - but unable to confirm if this was him. Convict married Catharine Larkins in 1827 and had 6 children all the same names as the children listed above as well a daughter Margaret.
1821 Census - of Crosserlough/Kildrumferton lists Margaret as a widow, and only Richard (13)& Thomas (8). Thomas married Catherine Bell in 1838 and migrated to Melbourne Australia via the assisted immigrant scheme. His mother Margaret followed 3 years later. Margaret died in 1873 aged 90, Thomas died in 1877 aged 64 & Catherine died in 1900, aged 80. Does this family ring a bell with anyone ?. Does anybody know what became of Richard ?.
