I'm a bit confused. Your grandfather was Robert Alexander. Do you have an approximate date of birth for him. You mention his father as being JEPTHA JR. but I have found Jeptha Jr. with his wife and kids and no sons, only daughters.
Jeptha Senior had several daughters and sons and looks likely that his sons included Jeptha Jr., John A. William D. and Robert. Are you sure he is not the father of your grandfather???
Here is what I have found on the Jeptha Stephens families. I already gave you 1880 for Jeptha Sr.
I found a marriage for Jeptha H. STEPHENS and Levisa M. JACKSON
married Feb. 26, 1846, Walton Co. GA
I then found them in 1850

I haven't found Jeptha or Rhoda in 1930 yet, but know that at least Rhoda was still living at that time as I found a death record for her in the Georgia death records

Is there any chance the 94 year old lady you are in contact with could be mixed up between the two Jepthas?? How is she related to your Stephens? Would you like me to look her up in census records? If she is 94 she would be born about 1914 and would be in 1920 and 1930 census records.
I am going to to see what I can find on Robert Alexander for you.
