I descend from the Stephens family that settled near Hudson & Carlock, Illinois.I believe, although I have no definite ties, that Ralph and Lawrence R. are part of our Stephens family. Many of our ancestors are buried in the Carlock Democrat and Hudson Cemeteries. Philip Alfonso (my ancestor) and Levi Stephens brought the Stephens families to central Illinois (McLean Co. and Stark Co.) in the mid 1800's from Virginia through Ohio.
Also, your query on John Milton was of interest because we have John Milton Stephens (more than one) in our family dating back to the early 1800's and we've not been able to connect that name.We have David Milton b. 1810 (John & Martha Brown Stephens), John Milton b. 1829 (1st born son of Philip Alfonso & Nancy Meyers Stephens) and John Milton (1st born son of Levi & Nancy Collins Stephens).
I would be interested in corresponding with you about the Stephens and Milton names.I'm wondering if Martha Brown Stephens may have been a Milton descendant.
Look forward to hearing from you.
