This post from last week concerns Elijah Stephens from VA line of Stephens.
This is from a good source periodical, so I am listing it two times, once as a reply and once for anyone who needs to know about "Elijah Stephens" of, VA, NC, MO(his family comes from these areas)
This week I have gained access to the Stephens family periodical sourcebook "Missouri Cousins", by Coppage, A. Maxim; Ranies Publishing Company; 11 W. 20th Street, Antioch, Calif; pub date of Sept of 1969
FATHER of ELIJAH STEPHENS:
WILLIAM STEPHENS, (son of another WILLIAM STEPHENS who had been born in 1745), b. 1775, Rockingham County, N.C. served in the War of 1812 from Garrard County, KY, went to Callaway, Co Missouri in died in St. Joseph, Missouri in 1869 at home of his son-in-law, John Kentucky Johnson.
William Stephens second wife was Elizabeth Leachman, b. 1775 d. 1788.Their children according to Lynn Alvord were; John Leachman, b. 1781 d. 1863 m. Polly Sams. Sally Creel b. 1782 d. 1859 m. Dr. Wm. Renfro.
ELIJAH STEPHENS, b. 1 May 1820, Garrard County, Ky., d. 5 April, 1909 and buried in Arkadelphia Cemetery south of Avalon, Mo. He came to Carroll County in 1850 and in 1852 started for Calif., At Ft. Laramie he became ill and started to return to Missouri.On the way the party was attacked by Indians and were rescued by an army patrol.On May 28 1857 he was married to ELIZABETH BURTON, dau of Joseph and Elizabeth (Crawley) Burton of Howard County, Mo.Their marriage was the first to take place in Stokes Mound twnp.He was a member of the Christian Church of Oakland which is still (1969) in service.

The REV. THOMAS PEYTON STEPHENS was a son of WILLIAM STEPHENS,above and second wife, Elizabeth (Leachman) Stephens. He was born in Rockingham County, N.C. 1787

WILLIAM STEHPENS his (first) wife ELLEN MCCUBBIN; probably a dau. of Nicolas McCubbin of Pittslyvania County, VA., and of Maryland heritage.They were parents of nine children: Wm, called “Squire Billy”; Nicolas McCubbin; Eliz, wife of Thomas Redmon Rideway; Sarah Creel, wife of Zaphnath Todd; Robert; John McCubbin; ELIJAH (*see) ; Mary Ellen, wife of Jno Kentucky Johnson; and Martha Jane, wife of Jasper Todd.,
