I know of a John Stephens b.1722 in an unknown location who married Nancy DUDLEY who was born 1745 in Virginia and died 15 June 1830 in Silex, Lincoln, Missouri.John died 1788 in Dan River Bottom, Rockingham, NC.This may be the John Sherwood Stephens you mentioned.
