Hello Paul, my name is Mark Stephan, I'm Kennith's younger brother. We started to research my family history last year,we went to the US Federal archives and got a copy of my Great grandfather Jacob Stephan Jr's petiiton for US Citizenship and his country of birth is listed as Germany.
Jacob and his two brothers Nicholas and John worked at the Cordage Co. in Plymouth Massachusetts. It was an old co. that had three very large buildings. There are pictures and books in the Plymouth library of the Cordage co.
There is also another family called Braunecker, Jacob's mother was Katharina Braunecker. They settled in Plymouth around the same time and also came from Roppviller, Lorraine. They are buried in the same Cemeteryand the family plots are right next to each other.
Jacob Jr. married Ruth Standish(a descendant of Myles Standish of the Mayflower that came to the US in 1620), Jacob Jr. died in 1945 at the age of 85.
I have been going to the Plymouth library to research the Town of Plymouth Record books. They list marraige, death, and birth records from the year 1864 until present. I think I may have came across the Hartman name at some time.
I would like to get a copy of LDS microfilms but don't know where to get them, would you know how or where i can order them?
If there is anything I can research for you please let me know. It has been nice talking to you. If you would like you can email me [email protected]
