Nicholas Stenger of 1840 Maryland

Barbara and Nicholas Stenger came over from "Germany" (We think Bavaria) in the mid-1830's and appear in the 1840 federal census for Alleghany County (Cumberland) MD. A Catholic family, they had many children, including a younger son John Nicholas Stenger I, who married a daughter of Balthaser Rosenberger (what a great name) of Allegheny Co. Their son John Nicholas Stenger II married, I believe a daughter of Carl Samuelson, also of the Allegheny or Garrett County area, in farthest Western Maryland. They moved to Baltimore City, where my grandfather John Nicholas Stenger III was born in 1889. John Nicholas Stenger I must have had other offspring, but John Nicholas Stenger II otherwise only had a daughter, Teresa Stenger Fleagle, who lived her entire life in Baltimore City and County. Thanks for any help anyone can give me.
