Hello, I am a Stender, descended from a family who emigrated from W. Prussia in 1886.
The village of origin was Schoenflies, in the Kreis(District) of Berndt/Bernt/Bernet.
This is near Danzig. My Great Grandfather had three brothers, according to what few records I have been able to find. His father, Gottlieb Stender, also had siblings but I know nothing about them. If possible, I am going to Poland, to explore the area and see if I can determine anything from the cemeteries. If you can find any old census records, you may be able to find a place of birth for August and Anna. The Stenders in the Charleston SC area also trace their lineage to W. Prussia.
