I have researched my direct Stell family line and am now looking for my GGF's siblings. In particular, James Stell.
This is what I know:
Per the 1860 census for Huntingdon Co, PA:
James Stell (male, age 7)
***married Katie Kurtz, she was born ~1842 - died,unknown
**a mechanic, according to J S Africa’s book, “History of
Huntingdon & Blair Counties,” pg 225
**alive and living in West Virginia at the time of his
brother, Leonard’s, death
**mentioned in the biography of Benjamin R. Foust, as
“Others who have been mechanics at Mill Creek… James
Stell…”
**In my father's writing,”a shoemaker”
**his children: “Minnie Stell, Agnes Stell - who married a
“Beal” & had a son, Tommie Beal,”
William Stell, Thomas Stell - who married an Emma ?___?
and moved to Ohio
***per the 1870 census for Huntingdon Co,PA, James is 19, working on a farm & living with his brother, Harry, Harry's wife, Laura Hagey Stell, and her parents, Samuel and Elenora Hagey.
ANYONE KNOW THIS MAN & HIS FAMILY????????
