It may be just a coincidence but family tree can be traced to Switzerland as well, but the dates and names differe:
Jacob Steinman (1757-1827)
Birthplace unknown, but owned a farm in Switzerland where he married Barbe Von Kennel. Sailed from Holland, Aug 1826, landed in NY, then settled in Wilmot Township. Brought his wife, his son Christian as well as his wife and 2 sons also.
Had 5 children:
- Peter, married and died in Ohio, USA (nothing else known)
- Jacob, married and died Pennsylvania, USA (nothing else known)
- Joseph, born 1796 in France (nothing else known)
- Magdalena, (1798-1870) died in Wilmot Township, ON Canada, marriage unknown
- Christian Steinman I (1792-1865) born in Lorraine France
I am a descendent of Christian Steinman I. He had 2 childre Jacob Steinman (nothing known), and Christian Steinman II (1824-1910 Wilmot Township ON Canada). Perhaps Jacob Steinman is in some way related to your Christian Steinman?
