Herman & Joanne Steinke

Your query stands out to me because I have a Herman Steinke in my ancestry who was from Michigan, in addition, there are Engel's (no Engle's though) - in fact, there was an Engel-Steinke wedding as well.
Emma Steinke (c1871-1958) was born in Prussia and came to America as a baby. Her father was Hermann Steinke and her mother died young so Emma was raised by her maternal grandparents (last name Meden) in the northern part of southern Michigan, near Rogers City.Hermann remarried and had other daughters (Martha and Bertha I believe) raised in MI.Martha married someone named Dunn and had a son Patrick Dunn (1908-1983).But Herman may have had male descendants too, because I know I've seen a picture at my grandparents house of a WWII-era vet with the name Herman Steinke on the back.
As for the Engel's, Emma married Louis Engel from NYC and had children Sarah, Anna (my great grandmother) and Arthur.
Any of this sound familiar?
