My husband's family are Steinkes and I'm trying to research them but haven't gotten far.
My husband's paternal grandfather was Alfred Allen Steinke Jr, born Sep 1923 in Arizona and died Jan 2005 in Globe, AZ. His parents were Alfred Allen Steinke Sr. (b. Aug 1893 or 1892 in Iowa, d. Jul 1961) and Ollie Lee S Haught (b. Jul 1902 in Gila AZ, d. Oct 1966). Alfred Steinke Sr.'s parents were William Samuel Steinke (b. Oct 1835 in Germany, naturalized around 1850 - on the 1900 census he said he'd been in the US for 58 years) and Susan (b. Dec 1856 in Wisconsin, her father was Scots English and mother was Irish, possibly from Canada). I don't know her maiden name and would like to find their marriage record. William and Susan had 6 children that I've found, although their census records say they have 9 living children, and later adopted a little girl.
Ollie Haught's parents were Anderson Lee Haught (b. Sep 1870 in Texas, d. Feb 1929 in Payson, Gila AZ) and Elma/Ella/Almey Hunnicut (b. Oct 1879 in Texas, d. Feb 1968 in Globe AZ). Anderson Haught's parents were Peter Haught (b. 1825 Ohio) and Susannah Pruitt (b. 1837 Illinois). Anderson and Ella had 7 children. Ella's parents are supposedly Raul Hunnicut b. 1853 Texas and Millie Glover b. 1857 Texas.
I have census records for 1900 and 1910 for the Steinkes and 1870, 1910 and 1920 for the Haughts.
Anybody else related to my hubby?
