I have a cousin in Bern whom I converse with via e-mail. I asked her about the book in question. She tells me that it is not available in English and has very little geneology info.
My interests about Steiners are centered around Ringgenberg, which is also near Interlaken. My cousin is not aware of any of our family in the Oberried area, but it may be possible if you go back far enough. My oldest ancester Galen lived in the 1600's. Then there are two or three generations between Galen and the next known ancester. I have a bunch of Jakobs, Christens, Christians, and Peters. The first tracable Steiner is Peter born in 1718 who married Anna P. Aarmuhli. The children were Peter, Jakob, Anna, Elisabeth, and Margarita. I can only trace in a straight line to my father from the first Peter.
If any of this rings a bell with you, let me know.
