Steinacker & Stalnaker

Does anyone know the connection between the names Steinacker and Stalnaker? One comment on Message Board about Stalnaker is that this name is possibly linked to the Steinacker family heritage of Prussia and Imperial Austria.
In 1706, one Samuel Stalnaker was born in Westphalia (Prussia) Germany. He immigrated to the US and married a Sarah Williams around 1737 in what is now West Virginia. He died in 1769 in (W)VA. Samuel was know as "Captain", due to his rank in the Colonial Virginia Army during the French and Indian War.
Samuel Stalnaker was probably one of the first, if not the first, Stalnaker in America. He was one of my 5X Great Grandfathers.
His log cabin in America had a carving of a family crest that is the same as the Steinacker family crest. I'm thinking that he possibly changed his last name when he came to this country. Other possibilities are that the name was changed in Prussia just beffore he came but he kept the family crest.
Any help is appreciated.
