Cher- Read your reply to Lee Stone concerning Robert Stehle.I am See's father and can perhaps add a bit more information.Robert Stehle had one brother that I know of.His name was John, and my mother told that she met him once when he visited his brother.John moved to Michigan, I believe Battle Creek but could be wrong, and we never heard from him again.
Robert Stehle (and I presume his brother)were in the German Children's Home in Louisville Kentucky.Robert, my great grandfather, always told that his mother died at sea on the way from Germany. His father remarried, Grandpa said to the Devil's Grandmother.I don't know about that, but perhaps that's why the children were in an orphanage. There were a number of Stehles in the City Directories of Louisville at that time, but I'm unable to establish relationship so far.A family named Hoehnson took Robert from the home to their farm in Clark County, Indiana. There he joined another orphan from another Louisville home, Samuel Hoechst.Samuel had an older sister, Margarethra who was taken by a druggist in Louisville. She would visit her brother and eventually, in 1873, married Robert and they had a number of children.
If you are connected with the family, it would be through his brother John or one of the other Stehle families in Louisville. That's all I know.Sam Stone
