Am searching for Mary "STIFFEY", b. abt. 1856 in OH and a Matilda "STIFFEY", b. abt. 1858 in OH.

Mary and Matilda appear in the 1860 census for Tuscarawas Co., OH, surnames STOUCH, daughters of Simon and Eva STOUCH (STOUGH). Eva is Simon's second wife. Could Eva's first husband be your John?

In the 1870 census for Marshall County, Indiana, Matilda appears as Matilda STIFFEY, age 14, white female born in Ohio, in the household of Simon and Phoeby (probably Eva) STOUGH.

Four households up, in the household of Joseph STOUGH, Mary appears as Mary STIFFEY, age 16, white female born in Ohio.

Could these be Mary and Matilda STOUGH, married young to STIFFEY's, or Eva/Phoeby's children by a previous marriage?

Have not been able to find Mary or Matilda after the 1870 census under either surname, all spellings. Any suggestions?
