Hi Mary -Just ran across your posting mentioning Eibe Friederick Steffens and Anna Dorothea Kruckmann. I have been researching my great grandfather, Eiber Friederick Steffens. He was born in Hanover in 1843.According to his obituary, his mother died when he was 6 weeks old, his father when he was about 6 years old.He came to this country as an orphan in 1852.The story is that he came with his sister and her husband. They went to Wisc., and when Eiber went into the Civil War, his name was eventually changed to Abner Frederick Stevens. However, when he married a few years later, it was as Eiber.Because of this name changing, and coming here as a 9 year old orphan -I am having trouble finding out who his parents were, as you can imagine! When I saw the name, Eibe Friederick, which is so much like his - and the dates in the right time, I was hoping this was the break I have been looking for.Do you have any information on the children of Eibe and Anna - and if so, would any fit my gr.grandfather?Hoping you will still be checking these messages and have some good news for me!!Thanks.Joyce Johnson
