John B. Steenbergh; John B. Van Steenbegh

I've been seeking for over 20 years the parents or birth record of John B. Steenbergh born in Schenectady, NY about 1816.

I have followed him to Champion, Jefferson County, NY in June 1849 where he married Sephronia Cooper. It's very possible he had a wife before Sephronia a "Sarah Ann w/o JB" died in 1845 and was buried in Champion. In 1850 census they were in the City of Oswego, NY. Per military records, he lived in Fulton, NY until he enlisted in the Civil War. After medical discharge, he moved to Michigan. They had five children Horace (died at age 20), John Henry, Charles, Carrie, Mable. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
