I recently purchased an undated studio photo (Carpenter Photograph Rooms, Kansas City), identified on the back as "Aunt Alice & Uncle Bill Steele."
I found a couple recorded in the 1880 census data that are probably them: William Steele, age 30, and Alice Steele, age 23, residing in Lebanon Township, Cooper Co., MO. Mr. Steele was a farmer.
