Leumel G. & Sarah Steele of Kemper Co., MS

My family and I went to a deer camp in Kemper County, MS near or in the community of New Hope, near Moscow Road.
While there, a family member of ours told us of an old house around 200 years old, with what he thought was a grave behind it a ways. When he told me of this, I instantly wanted to see it. He brought us to this house and it was an amazing sight to see. It was beautiful, it was big, and it was falling down. It is at the very end of a log road, overgrown with trees, vines, and bushes. He took us behind the old house a ways through the woods to a concrete stone. This grave stone had grown into the base of an oak tree and there was another big square concrete thing next to it. I looked at the first stone and noticed it said "Leumel G. Steele" born 1803, and died 1865. It also said he had been in the revolutionary war in North Carolina. Next to him, the huge above ground rectangle concrete box. The top of this box had about 5 inches worth of dirt, weeds, and even ferns growning on top of it. It covered the entire top. I immediately began digging and pulling this mess off the top of the box and realized it was a grave. It was the grave of the wife of Leumel G. Steele. I had no water with me, but my family member did and he poured it on top of it so I could clean it off and reveal what was inscribed. It said "Sarah Steele" wife of L. G. Steele. It said she was born 1800, and died Aug. 18, 1845. I believe this to be a family grave yard and very, very old. One side of the rod iron fence still stands with help of the tree that also holds up the grave of Mr. Steele. It is AMAZING to see!
I have taken pictures of the house and both graves if anyone has a link to this family they are welcome to have them. I do plan to go back to these graves to get exact directions to it. The home and graves are on private land that is leased by deer hunters through a hunting club. I couldn't wait to share this find with everyone and fellow researchers. This family is not my ancestors, BUT I felt like I'd found a gold mine. I am very certain that these 2 graves are NOT the only ones there, being as the fence surrounding these graves would have surrounded several graves. I didn't find any other markers, but that doesn't mean they aren't there, I didn't have anything to dig with to uncover any additional markers at the time. Here are the names and dates I did find:

Leumel G. Steele b. 1803, d. 1865
Sarah Steele b. 1800, d. Aug. 18, 1845

This is in Kemper County of Mississippi near Moscow, within the community of New Hope. I believe this man was a Revolutionary War soldier according to his marker. (the marker also had a symbol upon it of two big "V"'s which one was right side up and the other upside down and crossed each other with the letter "C" in the middle of the two. I don't know what the symbol represents but maybe someone does. I am so happy to find this and want so very much to share it with the descendants of this "Steele" family. Thanks!
