Andrew Steel Penobscot Maine
Posted by: James Trott (ID *****1312) Date: August 07, 2007 at 16:30:56

The 1790 census for Penobscot town, Hancock Co lists Steel, Andrew 1-1-4-0-0. He is listed right next to William Dolliver. Their land was on the Penobscot River several miles above Castine. Land transactions circa 1786-1789 involving both of them are found in Hancock Co records.
Andrew Steel also seems to have connections to James and Lydia Douglass and possibly Solomon Avery (*d. bef 1784)

Andrew Steel was issued a Proprietors certificate in 1797 for a hundred acres of ground in Penobscot.

Does anyone know anything more about Andrew Steel?

thanks Jim
