Miss. Gertrude Steele
The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa
Saturday, January 5, 1905
Jolly DELIA PRINGLE, the famous actress, who with her company gave entertainments at the Armory three evenings last week, was married at the close of the performance of the "Christian" on Saturday evening to her manager, MR. T.O. TUTTLE. The ceremony took place on the stage in the presence of the large audience and was performed in an impressive manner by Mayor I.N. Bowen. The wedding march was executed by the orchestra, and the attendants were MR. and MRS. ECKELS, MR. CHAS. ARCHER and MISS GERTRUDE STEELE, other members of the troupe. The bride was arrayed in a charming costume of white renaissance lace over pink silk; MRS. ECKELS wore black lace over light blue etamine, and MISS STEELE wore a gown of white satin trimmed in spangled lace.
The home of the bride is at Knoxville and she has a number of friends here who were present Saturday evening to extend congratulations and best wishes. It was rumored on the streets last Friday that the wedding would occur while the troups were in town and that evening it was publicly announced from the stage that it would take place at the close of the performance Saturday evening. It proved to be a great drawing card as the house was literally packed with spectators. The company left here Sunday for Broken Bow, Nebraska.
