Morrison-Steele Connection
I saw the previous posts about this family line. There is some speculation about Janet Steele and Jeanette Steele.
This is what I have about the Steele's in my genealogy
John Morrison ~ (1650-1736) Aberdeen Scotland
married Mary Wallace 1st wife, had 2 sons:
John Morrison Jr. (1670s)
James Morrison (b.1675 Scotland – d.1760 Chester, Lancaster PA)
James (1675) married twice, his second wife was Janet Steele (b. abt. 1677 Scotland) (m. 1699/1703 Ireland) (d. in Lancaster PA)
and their sons were: James Morrison (1702 –1779), William Morrison (1704-1771, Thomas E. Morrison (1706-1748, Andrew Morrison (1718-1770)
John (1650) married his second wife Jane (Jeanette) Steele (Stelle) b.1644 Aberdeen Scotland m. May 13 1764 d. 1678 Londonderry NH) and theirs sons were:
Lenard Morrison (no other records)
Jeremiah Morrison (no other records)
Earnest Morrison (no other records)
Nathaniel Morrison (no other records)
Samuel Morrison (no other records)
Martha Morrison b. in Ireland moved to US in 1718 married.Thomas Steele b. 1682/3 Ireland, m. 1715 in Ireland,
d. 1748, Londonderry, NH, and had these children: Thomas (1721), James (1724-1819 NH), John (? NY), David (1727, m. Janet Little), Janet (m. to John Wallace)
This genealogy may be different than what other researchers have presented. Here is some supporting info: “Several researchers have James as the son of John and
Janet Steele. Actually John Morrison was the father of James and John (II)
Morrison who were charters of Londonderry, NH. They were referred to as
Charter James and Charter John. There were five Morrisons listed as
charters of Londonderry. "Jean" Steele was John's (the elder) second wife
and step mother to James and John. James' second wife was Janet Steele.
I'm not sure if Janet was related to James's step mother "Jean.".Another researcher friend gave me this information.
Does anyone else have a similiar theory???I am trying to be as accurate as possible.
Please email me at [email protected] if you have ANY info about this connection.
