Tom,

In 1871 they were living in Main Street, Whitburn. Ebenezer was an Ironstone Miner aged 28, and he was living with his wife and their sons Ebenezer aged 4, Alexander F aged 2 (the F stood for Forrest, Elizabeth's maiden surname), and James aged 8 months.

The childrens birth dates were Ebenezer 22nd May 1866, Alexander 13th November 1868, James 3rd August 1871. There was also another son David Forrest Steel born on the 3rd January 1873 also in Whitburn, who died the same year (possibly at birth), and William born 1875 exact date not known. Ebenezer and Elizabeth had married in Whitburn on the 29th December 1865.

Ebenezer's parents were Ebenezer Steel (a cotton weaver) and Margaret Sangster. He was the eldest of at least 8 children.
