Bruce,

There have been no Ebenezer Steel births in Midlothian (the county which includes Edinburgh) since registration began in 1855. There have been several born elsewhere in Scotland. There was also an Ebenezer Steele (note spelling) birth in Edinburgh, but it was in 1892, a bit earlier than the early-1900's.
