Hi,
My name is Muriel Adam. I have been researching my various family lines for over 10 yrs now. The Steedman branch is well to the side!! My mother's maiden name was Brunton and her cousin Margaret Turnbull Lockie Ross married John Cranwell Collier in 1933. John Cranwell Collier's mother was Clara Steedman. I use Family Tree Maker v 11 and have made a separate Steedman file and have been in contact with a grandchild of Michael Evans Steedman/ Stedmond, who gave me some info on Michael's side. Apparently Michael discovered that their name had originally been Stedmond but on coming to Scotland from ireland the family were known as Steedman.
Michael then changed the family name of his line back to Stedmond. I am meeting with John Carnwell Collier's daughter Margaret Moira in Aberdeen next week.
We live on the outskirts of Edinburgh and the majority of my research is done at New Register House.
If you too are into genealogy you will know that it can be a bit of an obsession!
