I am so excited to find this site. My Grandfather John Howard Stedman, everyone called him Howard, died in Nov 2001 at the age of 103. I believe he was born in Medford, Mass. in 1897/98. Married to Gladys Richard or Richaud. What I have heard about his father is that he was a mill owner in Lowell or Lawrence Mass. Has a street named after him, married a young French Canadian girl who worked in the mill. He was considerably older than her. His family disowned her and her children after he died. The Stedman family (I believe was from CT.) My grandfather said he went from very wealthy upbringing to very poor after his father died because the family would have nothing to do with his mother. I think he had siblings. My Grandfather lived in Waltham, Mass since shortly after being married, had two sons, John (we call him Jack) and Harold (called Hal) He stayed in the same house until a few years before he died. He was sharp as a tack. My father has some memorabilia from his Great grandfather who fought in the Civil War. I hope to ask lots of guestions of my father to fill in the blanks.
