I have handwritten notes of a Miss Mattie Staton written about 1920-30. Mattie was residing in St. Louis, Mo., and was daughter of Preston, a brother of your William. Yes I am fairly postive they are the same family.
She has only listed
" William, son of Lewis, married Kate Treft ---- They lived at Jackosn County and had the following children;
John Staton address unknown
Maimie Laurley [nee Staton Goren Illinois.
She also writes;
" My mother only knows that my father had an uncle called Preston. My grandfather Lewis was Justice of the Peace in Leesburg district Perry Countyy Illinois from 1849 to 1857 That is all the office any of my relatives ever held that I have any record of."
