The family of James Madison Staten/Staton and wife Mary Shannon are in Wood, Carroll County, Missouri in 1880 census not too far from the family of Hulda Jones. James and Mary had a son Joseph Staten born 1859.
James Madison was born 1815 and is the son of James Staten and Mary Harrington of Trimble/Henry County, Kentucky.
I have a short article on this family but it is packed away somewhere, I think Jasper Staton was a traveling salesman for the Seth Thomas Clock Company. I believe some of the children moved to Iowa--
