I would like to discuss this further if you would email me. I have collected quite a bit on the family in America over the past ten years and would be glad to share it. Staten Island is pronounced Stat In and the name Staten is pronounced State In, as is Staton. Staten Island History can be found online and it has nothing to do with our family name, contrary to the many stories. I did speak to someone a few years back who said there is a story of three brothers who came from England and resided at "Staten Island." One was supposedly killed by Indians there and supposedly his name is mentioned on a plaque somewhere but I have never been able to find anything on this story. Joanne
