Dear Eva: I am impressed with your data and your intellectual acuity. Your efforts in my behalf are greatly appreciated. While the issue of James William Stateler's parentage is not a major one in my research, like all unsolved mysteries, it has become nettlesome. My wife never met Mr. Stateler who married her grandmother. This just adds to the mystery. It will be some months yet until my manuscript is ready for publication. Therefore, I shall watch for any new posts you make respecting this Stateler. He has not been an easy target. My home in New York has limited my ability to search in Champaign County, Illinois. Had I known years ago while a graduate student at the University of Illinois in Champaign/Urbana that this problem would arise, I could easily have visited the county library and courthouse in search of data. I shall keep the data you have supplied for analysis and future review. I do not yet know if this Stateler from Champaign County, IL, is the one who married Jesse Maude (Perry) Shelby and is buried next to her in Danville, Illinois. If Sandra published a newsletter, she has been energetic, ambitous, and dedicated to research and scholarship. Thank you for your response to my query and kindest personal regards, Francis Keenan, Ph.D. Emeritus Professor Brockport, New York Notify Administrator about this message?
