I had not checked out Mr Blum. I didn't know about him until seeing your note.
I did know that our Jonathon was living with his fater in-law (Valentine Hylton) in 1860:

And his marriage license lists him as living with the Hyltons in 1855.
I'm not surprised the family is scattered.
Tradition holds that Jonathan and Zilphy's children where split up because they were too poor to take care of them. My father and I have been talking with one of Austin's ( son of Jonathan) daughters (Charlotte Starr Lilly) lately and have been learning about this period.
I saw your other note about the Casper Starr and I had been wondering about the Rowan county Starrs. The more I look, the less likely it seems my group is connected to the Guilford County Starrs.
The DNA testing site is also and interesting idea, partuicularly since several of Austin's children are still around.
