I have been researching the Census records of Washington Co., and have dicovered some interesting stuff. In her will of 1853, Michale Traylor Combs Starr leaves her property to Polly Galloway and Martha Starr, and some money to George W. Galloway, Catherine Combs and Emaline Harrison. I think that these last three may be grandchildren. In the 1850 Census I found a John Galloway and wife Mary (Polly?)age 49. Living nearby is a George W. Galloway and his family. In the 1880 Census is the same George Galloway with his mother "Mary", aged 79. If this is Polly Galloway, she would be the daughter of Michale Traylor and William Combs. Also in the Census is William Combs, b. 1804, and his daughter Catherine Combs. I have one source that says he is the son of William Sr. and Michale. Also, since William Combs was much older than Michale, could he have been married before? That would explain the other two Combs girls who married Starrs. I have a book "Tenessee Bible and Family Records", that states that Michael Starr's daughter Mary married a man named Smiley. The book also says that my GG/Grandmother Ann Starr Douglas died on January 31. 1862. This would be about right, as Samuel re-married in December 1862 to his neighbor's daughter, Nancy Jones. Now it really gets complicated. In her will of 1867, Martha Starr leaves her property to Edmond Bacon, "for taking care of me". This Edmond Bacon had a daughter, Lucinda, who married the son of William Combs(II). Edmonds's first wife also died and he married Vina Douglas Short, Ann's step-daughter by Samuel's first marriage. Talk about convaluted relationships. Let me know what you think on all this.
