I believe it is him. Here's what I know.
John Cotten (Cotton?I have seen it spelled both ways within the same famiy line),came to America in 1633 from England. He landed in Plymouth, Mass., and was a teacher. He raised a family, and from this the tree was started in America. In the Revolution, 2 brothers joined the army and came south. When the war ended, they were discharged in Virginia. Abraham Cotten(1 of the brothers), went to Georgia and married an Indian squaw(Pa-ha-ha Starr), and they raised a family. The youngest son was named Joab, born in 1803. Joab raised 6 sons, 3 of which were killed in the War Between the States. That is all of the concrete info that I have. I still have many bits and pieces that I am trying to put together. Hope I've been of help.Diedra
