Hi David,
Thanks for your reply.I looked through my "Book of Remembrance" and didn't find the photocopy of the Starling coat of arms and the entry in the encyclopedia-like book. But I did fine a handwritten letter in reply to a letter I wrote to a Mr. E Williamson in Yorkshire, England in March of 1969.He worked for the G.K. Beaulah & Co. LTD, a heraldry company. His letter to me said:
"I have done some research for you and have discovered the following.Sir William Starling of Stopplesly (sp?) Hall, Bedfordshire was knighted in 1661 and mad Lord Mayor of London in 1670.This coat of arms was granted 15th Sept. 1661."
I have a copy of the coat of arms, which is almost identical to the COA of the Stirling family of Scotland (?).
- - the plot thickens....?????
BTW, I lived in the LA area for 13 years.
There was a David Starling who was a radio personality there.Have you heard of him?
There's a Karyn (?) Starling who runs a talent agency in LA now.I've written her but she hasn't replied.
