UsGenWeb verifies the marriage, Austin Co., TX, Book D:92, Wm. H. STARKS m. 20 May 1861, Ann Elizabeth DABNEY. I think I see William H. with a different wife in 1870, Washington Co., TX: STARKS, William H., 40; Sibella J., 30; Willie A., 6; Edwin D., 3; Effie, 1. Also in household, Cornelia STARKS, 26. [I thought perhaps Cornelia would be a lead to help find the family, but I don't see any Cornelia of that age anywhere else.] I thought I might have found William in 1850, but the Bullitt Co., KY, William STARK, b. 1830, s/o Aaron & Susan, died there in 1902. There was also a William STARK, b. 1828, KY, of Dallas Co., MO, in 1850, but he reportedly died there by 1860. Assessment List for Austin Co., TX, 1890, has STARKS, Dick, H., & Hy. At least one Dick STARKS on the 1880 census was black. I don't know whether Hy. means Henry. A black Richard had a daughter Cornelia, Austin Co, TX, 1880.
