This sounds so much like my Mary S. Starks that I've been searching for. I got her birth date from and it had her parents named in there. Think the key word in your message for me is Garrets fortune in the snuff family. Would you please email me at and put Mary Starks in subject line. If your Mary is my great aunt, she would of been a cousin to the widow that was married to Walter Garrett "the snuff king". Mary's sister Nellie had a son named Robert Wimer. I have a few pictures I'd be glad to share with you, which includes a couple of her mother Hannah, plus what I have found on the family of Adam and Hannah Sheffer/Shaver Starks. I have pictures for 6 out of the 9 children. I'm wondering if this sister of Mary's may not of been a child of Adam's from his first marriage. Out of the 9 children of Adam and Hannah's, Mary and Joseph are only 2 I haven't been able to find anything on except their births.
Please email me as I do have a web link I want you to go to, as it does have some information on the family in it, beings it isn't my web page and I don't have permission to publish it, I'll email it to you.
Family stories has it the Starks originally came from Missouri, but we could never find prove of that, but we do believe we had relatives there as that is where Nellie Cathyrn Starks was born in 1868 and also possibly my grandfather Samuel Galloway Starks in 1864.
Any twins in the families there?
Take care and hope to hear from you soon.
